Scottish & Irish Sampler - 7 Days/6 Nights

The reason we chose the tour was because of the free time allotted to us. The tours were great especially going to the Cross Key pub. The accommodations were very good. They were true to their word on baggage handling. Everything explained about the tour was spot on.

Taste of Iceland Coach Tour - 6 Days/5 Nights

The entire tour exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed every part of it. All the stops and places to visit were just what we were looking for. Our tour guide Dorothy was just amazing!!!! She was not only brilliant in her knowledge of Iceland but so kind and caring and personal. The stops were perfect and each Hotel was really excellent. We could not have been happier with our experience.

Great locations, knowledgeable guide. Safe environments, great lodging, safe driver, would recommend to anyone. Anthony was a wonderful tour guide and great driver. He told us a lot of Ireland's history and political situations that occurred. Very professional and courteous. Highly recommend the tour.

Irish Classic - 13 Days/12 Nights

Bryan and John was great with the tour. Saw some amazing thing through out Ireland and learned so much about the history. It also gives you perspective of how well we do have it over here in the USA. Would highly recommend for others to take the tour if they are able to go.

Lovely scenery, interesting history, very efficient

Overall, good sample of Scotland and Ireland. Experience of driver and tour guide. Knowledge of everything we saw and did. Comfortable accommodation in hotels. Good choice for locations we visited. Edinburgh, the best.

Saw almost the entire island. Guide was knowledgeable and informative.
Although at times the weather was bitterly cold and windy, it was quite the adventure.

Taste of Italy

Dear CIE Tours,

I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to share my recent experience with the tour.

Overall, it was incredible! We loved the itinerary; it was like we handpicked each destination. Our tour guide was exceptional, and the hotels provided everything we needed. The breakfasts were delicious, too. The bus drivers impressed us with their driving skills, especially on those winding coastal roads from Sorrento to the Amalfi Coast!

However, I must mention that our dinner experiences left much to be desired. We were hoping for authentic Italian cuisine, but the meals felt rushed and not reflective of the local offerings. It might be better to consider not including dinners, allowing travelers the flexibility to explore and dine at local restaurants.

We’re already planning a return trip to Italy in two years, possibly to explore a different region, and we hope to use CIE Tours again.

Thank you for the wonderful experience overall!

Best regards

Scottish & Irish Gold - 15 Days/14 Nights
We saw all the places we have always wanted to see! Very well run tour.

Excellent service, beautiful hotels! Both tour guides fountains of knowledge, especially our Scotland guide, Austin Yuill. He kept us engaged and interested. His love of his job was clearly evident from Day 1, and he made sure he was available to handle all requests. I was very impressed , along with my fellow travelers ! We learned so much and enjoyed it all.

Best friends rrip of a lifetime

Our tour guide Lisa was spectacular - full of knowledge, wit, and British charm. The itinerary was great, as was the provided food. We only had one issue with our hotel in Liverpool, but Lisa made sure it was resolved for us. Would definitely do another CIE tour in the future.

2024 Scots Irish Tour - 15 Days/14 Nights

Even though the weather stopped us from leaving at the appointed day, CIE and our travel agent came through with connections to get us to Scotland at a reasonable time. Overall the tour was a great way to experience Ireland and parts of Scotland.

Engaging and Wonderful Time Had!

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Ian and his command of history was an interesting tour director, giving us information that we had not thought about and added to the tour. Ian and Joe (the driver) were great together and played off of each other making the tour light and fun. We were impressed with the castles, countryside, and calm living of Scotland. The tour ending at Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Military Tattoo was spectacular. The hotels we stayed in were each different and reflected the Scottish land, not like an American hotel, but a hotel that was both intriguing with wonderful scenery. The food we had included with our tour was also very Scottish and fun to see the difference from what we eat in America and what the Scottish people enjoy. The porridge with whiskey was very tasty! Lastly, we have spoken of this tour to all our friends and have recommended it to many. I have a teacher friend who is wishing to go on a tour and she is looking into your CIE tour because of our wonderful experience. Thank you.

Taste of Italy

This was my third trip with CIE. The first two were in Ireland and Scotland. Here are a few comments about the trip. First and foremost, we had a great time and made great new friends. Lia, our tour guide went above expectations to meet the group's needs. The two day guides in Rome were excellent but a special nod to Matt on the first day. Here are some of the issues with this trip. They are for improvements for future Italy tours as this is a new foray for CIE.
My sister in law joined us on this trip so we were 3 to a room. In Venice and Sorrento she had a single bed but in Rome and Florence, she had a converted couch as a bed.
The day guides for a walking tour in Venice and Florence had a very strong accent and were hard to understand. As the group was not divided, she had to mange 40 people so if you were at the back of the group, she would be talking about another feature by the time you reach the previous one and left to guess at what she had pointed out. In Florence, the guide also was walking too fast and seemed in a rush to finish the walking tour.
The walking tours of the Coliseum and the Vatican were delightful an the guides were knowledgeable. Matt provided just enough information without overloading us. Tee group was split in two in Rome for the walking tours and that made a big difference.
The Gondola ride in Venice was a big disappointment. The driver did not interact with the passengers in any fashion and was more busy talking to the other drivers. The ride was in very small streets. He understood English as he answered a question about the depth of the water in the canal we were using.
Add-Ons: The documentation states there are no add-ons but tips are constantly being 'suggested' and the trolley trip on Capri was extra.
Suggestions:
1- Get day guides for the walking tours that do not have such a heavy accent and split the group in two for the tours with one guide each.
2- The guide should be assigning seats in the bus on a daily basis with name over the seats and switching them around. Leaving it to group members does NOT work.
3- Change Gondola ride company for the tours.
4- Do not have so much free time.
5- The stop in Bologna needs to have a planned activity instead of just free time.
6- Change the Bologna stop for Pisa. At least if there is no planned activity, we get to see the Tower.
7- The needs to be an included group activity and free time on the Isle of Capri.
8- I am for tipping the tour guide and the main drivers but stop pushing for tips for every driver along the way. Pay them more and stop requesting tips.
9- The welcoming greeting needs to have something to get the guests to know each other. In Scotland our first supper was at the Scotch experience and after that, the group was open to other people and more talkative. Hint: Provide free wine to taste with the supper.
Kia was our guide and she was amazing. She was knowledgeable, very friendly attentive to us. She went over and above and organized activities for us on the free time.
The suggestions are to improve a trip that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Taste of Italy

I cannot say enough good things about our tour guide, Lia!! She even got up in the middle of the night to see us off on the day of our departure. Throughout the tour, she instilled a positive energy that kept our group on track and very cohesive!! She was conscientious and tireless in her efforts to ensure that we truly enjoyed all the amazing sights that Italy has to offer.
